Clarissa was one of the best combinations of photography and design, as well usage of practical effects. I researched the central themes of the book, and came up with multiple concepts. While several of the ideas were striking, the above concept came from the idea of the book being a novel written through letters, and fit the imagery of the story the best. I created this scene via use of paper, knives, and ketchup. Mild editing was done in post to up the lighting and the realism, as well as adding the text.

The Affair at the Semiramis Hotel was an incredibly fun endeavor, as the design of it was almost all practical. I took multiple sheets of colored paper, traced out the desired shapes, cut them, and arranged them in my desired plan. It took multiple iterations to reach the final product, meaning I went through multiple rounds of photography and editing the paper edges. This project brought back the joy of practical design; how stepping away from the computer can bring about incredible results.

On the opposite end, my cover for A Marriage Under the Terror was made by combining various images from the Internet along with my own photography. I was able to produce this cover during a single workday, having done the necessary research and cover ideation beforehand. It majorly improved my Photoshop knowledge and increased my awareness of elements such as texture that elevated my design. I took full advantage of features such as Global light that allowed me to seamlessly add in a background of my own creation. Re-enforcing my knowledge of tools such as Photoshop were deeply valuable during my internship.

One of my first creations, A Modern Cinderella was created digitally, but still involved manual sketching and combining of imagery to trace the my figures. I used existing silhouettes and combined them to create the specific poses and items seen on the cover. I had many ideas for this cover, but the elements and imagery of this idea best conveyed the themes of the book.

Uneasy Money is a memorable design for me due to my determination to make the title entirely out of vector-based bees, an important plot point in the book. During my research, the key themes and overall synopsis of the book were truly bizarre, and I wanted to convey that with my cover design. Thus, I added in the monkey, with both elements intended to spark interest in the reader.
